Purpose of system:

 

To enable access to learning resources and information to support your studies and personal development provided by The Cornwall College Group or named organisation.

What information is held about you:

Personal data: Your name; username; email address.

IP address of the computers that you use.

System data: Any work you add or submit (such as assignments, forum posts, blogs, quiz activities etc); grades and feedback for work where this has been added by your teacher; logs of activity (such as dates of access and interaction).

How long is this information held for:

In August of each year, all accounts that haven’t been accessed for 3 years will be deleted.  Until that point, all data will be available from the day you started using Moodle.

Who can access this information?

You will be able to access your information.

Staff listed as teachers or editors on the courses / online space that you use; system administrators.

For qualifications, it may also be externally shared with: Exam boards / awarding bodies; your employer (only where you are funded /supported by your employer).

Communication from the system:

Information will not be used for marketing. 

By default, some elements of Moodle will send messages to you via email from the system. These will go to the email address that you set up when you created your account. This communication could include: Messages from staff; forum posts from other staff and students on your course; assignment confirmation / feedback.

You can customise your messaging preferences from your profile page in Moodle.

Other information:

Teachers and Managers on a Moodle course can give access to teachers on the qualification so must only give access as required.

Teachers and Managers on courses are responsible for the content on the Moodle course and ensuring that information is up to date and removed when no longer when required.  Assignments that have submissions should be hidden rather than deleted.  Courses should be backed up and archived when no longer required but not deleted until 3 years after last student access.  User accounts must not be used for marketing purposes.

User rights

You have the right to:

  • Request details of, or copies of, the data held about you in this system
  • Request for any incorrect information to be corrected
  • Request data about you to be removed or made anonymous (if it falls outside of required use).
