    • HNC Operational Yacht Science | Welcome by Programme Manager | Brender Willmott

    • Hi and Welcome

I’m Brender Willmott the course manager for the HNC and FdSc Operational Yacht Science. This is such an exciting course, and I am delighted to welcome you to it as you also start your Superyacht cadetship at UKSA.

I am delighted to be working with Lauren, Claire and Rich, the team at UKSA to ensure your success on the course, the cadetship and in your future career in the maritime industry. I have been a course manager and writer of a number of different marine courses since 2009 – these include Surf Science and Technology and Marine Sports Science, and I took over the stewardship of Operational Yacht Science in 2018.

I was born and brought up surfing in Cornwall and my love of the ocean has led me to be an advocate for it and to that end I recently spent 5 years on secondment to a project around the marine environment and encouraging young people to value and protect our ocean and marine environments. This led to me receiving a national award by the Worshipful Company of Teachers as Inspirational Environmental Educator of the Year in 2020.

I am delighted to be working on this course with you as it offers hugely exciting potential experience and progression in an industry that is growing exponentially. I will be visiting monthly and will always be available online to chat or offer support and advice on the course or pastoral issues that are outside the remit of UKSA.
