      We've put together a handy checklist to help you get ready for student life. You'll find links to relevant websites below. 

      • Find somewhere to live. We don't have halls of residence, but we have a list of safe and affordable student accommodation in the private sector.
      • Doctor - Register with a local GP.
      • Medication - Order any medication or repeat prescriptions before you leave home.
      • Dental - Book a dental appointment before you move.
      • Banking - Open a student bank account.
      • Check if you're eligible to apply for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) and apply if you are 
      • Search for student discounts.
      • Apply for a Student Railcard.
      • Write a realistic budget.
      • Look for a part-time job that will fit around your studies.

    • Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) is support to cover the study-related costs you have because of a mental health problem, long-term illness or any other disability. This can be on its own or in addition to any student finance you get. The type of support and how much you get depends on your individual needs - not your household income.

    • A 16-25 Railcard costs £35 and it'll save you 1/3 on rail fares throughout Great Britain for a whole year, including all Standard and First Class Advance fares. You are eligible if you're aged 16-25, or over the age of 26 and in full-time education. Please see our eligibility criteria for more information.
